Affinity: digestive system
Herbal Action: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anthelmintic, anti-parasitic, bitter, carminative, diuretic, emmenagogue
Indications:
Traditionally used to clear parasites, specifically roundworms and pinworms
Supports appetite, bile secretions, absorption of nutrients, and blood sugar regulation
Reduces sugar cravings, soothes indigestion and excess gas
Preferred Preparations:
Capsules
Infusion (reduces adverse effects due to poor extraction of Thujone in water)
Tincture (adults: 1-4 ml up to 3x daily)
Taste: extremely bitter
Contraindications: use short term for specific purpose. High doses and long-term use can cause headache, upset stomach, severe diarrhea and convulsions.
Not for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Avoid with gastric ulcers and seizure disorders.
