Herbal Actions: antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, astringent, bitter, demulcent, febrifuge, hypotensive, immuno-modulatory, nervine
Indications:
Considered a longevity tonic in TCM and has long been used to treat vertigo, headache, sore throats, and colds + flu
Traditionally used to reduce inflammation and infections with a particular affinity for the eyes, enhancing visual acuity and soothing irritated or infected eyes
Topically used for skin infections, sores, boils, acne and eye infections
Preferred Preparations: eyewash, infusion, tincture, salve, steam
Taste: delicately floral with notes of honey, similar to chamomile
Contraindications: Avoid with blood pressure meds. Minimal research exists for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
